Math Corequisite Program

This placement opportunity will provide additional support for students in Math 103 and Math 171 courses. At this time, these placement opportunities are just available to Pullman and Vancouver Campus students.

For Math 103 (Algebra Methods and Introduction to Functions):

• If a pupil scores between 20% - 39% on the ALEKS Assessment, then that student may take Math 103 (iii credits), but must also exist enrolled in Math 100 (2 credits) concurrently.
• Students in this score range can enroll in either of the following circumstances:
• Incoming students can enroll concurrently in Math 103 and Math 100 during their New Coug Orientation.
• Electric current students can enroll themselves into Math 100 when their registration time is open up in MyWSU, and and then contact our department at math.stats@wsu.edu for concurrent enrollment in Math 103. The student'southward email must include their WSU ID number and the Math 103 section number they would like added to their schedule. If more than than one department works in the pupil's schedule, they may list multiple sections in order of preference.
• If the student drops Math 100 then the student volition be dropped from Math 103.
• If the student would rather take only Math 100, they may exercise so!

For Math 171 (Calculus I):

• If a pupil scores between 78% - 82% on the ALEKS Cess, then that student may take Math 171 (4 credits), simply must also be enrolled in Math 110 (ane credit) concurrently.
• Students in this score range must request enrollment into Math 110, which is locked behind department consent.
• Incoming students tin enroll into Math 171 and asking concurrent enrollment in Math 110 during their New Coug Orientation.
• Current students can asking concurrent enrollment in Math 171 and Math 110 by contacting our department at math.stats@wsu.edu when their registration time is open in MyWSU. The student's email must include their WSU ID number, the Math 171 lecture and lab section numbers, and Math 110 department number they would like added to their schedule. If more than than ane department works in the student's schedule, they may list multiple sections in society of preference.
• If the student drops Math 110 then the student will be dropped from Math 171 – or vice versa, if the student drops Math 171 and so the pupil will be dropped from Math 110.
• If the student would rather accept the Accelerated Math 106 and 108 courses (requires a 75% or higher ALEKS score), they may request to enroll in these courses instead!
• Please run into our webpages for Fall Accelerated enrollment or Spring Accelerated enrollment.
• Students who score 83% or higher will place direct into Math 171. If these students would like to accept Math 171 and Math 110 concurrently, they may request to do so, but Math 110 is not mandatory for these students.

Annotation : ALEKS scores elapse after one year from the date of assessment. If the pupil's score is more than a yr sometime, they must have a new ALEKS Math Placement Assessment through our WSU-specific ALEKS portal.

* ULA Plan : The Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) Programme was created to back up students who elect to be apart of our Mathematics Corequisite Program.

• Students in the Math 171 and Math 110 concurrent pick will take a one credit Math 110 Calculus i support course that is designed to provide them assistance from a peer mentor and a graduate educatee mentor so they can receive the knowledge they need to exist successful in Math 171.
• Students in the Math 103 and Math 100 concurrent option will be supported by the ULA Program besides in similar ways. However, in that location will exist additional components to cover the breadth of content.
• Our program will focus on building a growth mindset around mathematics learning and utilise small-scale-group support to provide structure and assistance students in learning the textile.
